“This installation of nine christening robes in pâte de verre (glass paste) spread across two rooms is a profound piece of commentary on the Tuam Mother and Baby Home revelations. Due to the research of historian Catherine Corless, it was proven that 796 children, mostly infants, died and were presumably ‘buried’ in an unused septic tank at the home from 1925 up to 1961. The presentation and arrangement of these flocked pâte de verre christening robes is accompanied by a recorded voice in the background reading out the 796 names of the children who died, each name a young life extinguished.”
